Alexander Wang x H&M is happening
That’s right: Alexander Wang x H&M is a real thing, and you will be able to buy it in November this year. Announced in a very Wang way, via Instagram during the Coachella music festival in California, the collaboration marks the first partnership between the Swedish high street giant and an American designer.
Though details are sparse at this stage, H&M said in its official announcement that the collection will feature men’s and women’s clothing and accessories, and ‘a new take on the lifestyle product offering that goes beyond fashion’ … whatever that means. We’ll be on tenterhooks waiting to find out.
As for what we can expect of the Alexander Wang x H&M clothes, H&M has described Wang’s aesthetic as ‘re-contextualising the urban uniform’ with an ‘unprecious outlook on fashion’. Yeah, we’re none the wiser either, but we’re pretty sure that you’ll want it all. H&M’s creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch says Wang is ‘one of the most important voices in fashion today’. “He understands exactly what people want to wear and does it with an energy and passion that’s infectious,” she adds. “It feels incredible to be collaborating with him this year.”
The designer himself says he is ‘honoured’ to be the latest designer to collaborate with H&M. “The work with their team is an exciting, fun process,” Wang reveals. “They are very open to push boundaries and to set a platform for creativity. This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle.”
The Alexander Wang x H&M collection will launch on November 6th 2014, online and in 250 stores worldwide. There’s no word yet on which London stores will be stocking it, but maybe we’ll just start queueing on Regent Street now. Just to be on the safe side.
