To Do List: art with a heart, acceptable in the eighties and chocolate heaven
This week there’s an exhibition of celebrity drawings raising money for a good cause in Chelsea, an endless staircase at Tate Modern and very fashionable cocktails in Mayfair.

Daphne’s, the Italian restaurant and Chelsea institution owned by Richard Caring, is holding an exhibition of pen and ink drawings by celebrities including Helena Bonham Carter, Jessie J and Victoria Pendleton, designer Giles Deacon and jeweller Theo Fennell. The heart-themed sketches, based on a creation by East London artist Emiloumakes and priced at £1,000 each, will raise money for the cardiac ward at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Teary-eyed? Us too.
The drawings will be on view until 1st October at Daphne’s, 112 Draycott Avenue, London SW3 3AE.

To celebrate the launch of Belgian chocolate-infused Baileys Chocolat Luxe, a special pop-up restaurant has opened in Covent Garden harnessing the artistic talents of Bompas & Parr, Petra Storrs and Lou Hayter, to name but a few. Bar Chocolat will not only serve three-course meals created by experimentalists Blanch & Shock as part of its daily supper club (served with Bompas & Parr’s Baileys Chocolate Luxe Rococo Serve, natch), but it’s also open to the public every day.
Bar Chocolat is open for lunch and dinner, at £17.50 and £25 respectively, until Monday 16th September at Mercer Street Studios, London W2CH 9QE.

Commissioned for the London Design Festival, the Endless Stair opens to the public today on the riverside at Tate Modern. Comprising 187 steps, the Escher-inspired sculpture is made from 11.4 tonnes of American tulipwood and is designed to be reconfigured and reused – clever stuff. See if you can find the shortest route to the top (as high as a three-storey building), or stop by after dark as it becomes part of a light show.
Endless Stair is open from 9am to dusk until 10th October, outside Tate Modern, Bankside, London SE1 9TG.

Even if you’re not going to London Fashion Week, which starts today, you can still get in with the stylish set by dropping into Mayfair’s Michelin-starred Benares, where you can sip on two fabulously fashion-themed cocktails. The Mint a la Mode combines citron vodka, midori, mint and lemon, while our favourite, the Louboutin, features a ‘red sole’ of pomegranate, lemon and gin topped up with ginger beer.
Priced at £13.50 each, the cocktails are available until 17th September at Benares, 12a Berkeley Square House, Berkeley Square, London W1J 6BS.

Ah, the make-up, the hair … the shoulder pads? While it’s the nineties that is currently driving the fash pack wild, the V&A is celebrating another era: the eighties, and more specifically, club culture. In its latest fashion exhibition, Club to Catwalk, the museum explores trend-setting groups like the New Romantics and the Blitz Kids who spawned a generation of artists, performers and designers, including Leigh Bowery, Adam Ant and John Galliano.
Club to Catwalk runs until 16th February at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Cromwell Road, London SW7 2RL.
